Our Story
1979 Beginnings
In a small town– Ludhiana, in Punjab, India, TR Dhingra, our dadu (grandfather), a visionary textile engineer, established our journey. Knowledge of handlooms and a passion for craftsmanship, he started small. Our products included towels, khadi, and organic cotton at the time.
The company was named “Ajay Handloom Industries,” by a father for his son, with pride.
1984–1994 Passing the Torch
Our dad and my big man as we call him, Ajay Dhingra, the second generation, joined the business as a teenager. Someone who missed on the school stories, did home-college and skipped the fun chapters of the early 20s. Ajay deep dived into hardships at a young age and worked closely with his father to modernize operations.
By the early ’90s, our team introduced advanced air jet looms and expanded production facilities in Delhi and Ludhiana, supplying leading export houses across India.
1995 Innovation and Giving Back
Partnering with NITRA (Northern India Textile Research Association), we developed innovative products that earned national recognition.
In the generation when the market lacked job opportunities for many, we began free training programs, empowering 150+ rural individuals with handloom and power loom skills, fostering community growth. Our Rajesh Bhaya, is one of them who still works with us as a full time employee.
1996–2015 Growth and Global Reach
Our products found their way into India’s finest hotels, including TAJ, Oberois, DLF Groups and ITC, while we embraced a community-driven production model by engaging local artisans. By 2015, we expanded internationally with a warehouse in Mississauga, Canada, introducing Indian-made goods to global markets.
2015-Today Legacy Redefined
With offices in Canada and New York, we now export to countries worldwide. RANGRUI’s mission is to narrate Indian stories. The third generation, our grandkid, Akanksha Dhingra has joined us, ensuring our legacy continues while honoring tradition, craftsmanship, and sustainability.
